Chernihiv Youth Theater started as the offspring studio of the “Youth Theater” of the Chernihiv Puppet Theater in 1985. The first production in the studio after “11 Pages of War Prose” by B. Vasiliev won the first prize in the Ukrainian Young Actors and Producers Competition in Odessa (1985). After this success, he presented the studio in Kiev and Moscow. In 1988 the "Puppet Theater" was reorganized as the regional theater for children and youth. The band has got its own workplaces. During its many seasons, the theater has been performing dramatic plays and puppetry. A number of theater performances succeeded not only in the general public but also in Ukrainian and Soviet festivals (“Raggedy Ann” by Gibson, theater director O. Negresku; “The Catcher in the Rye” after Salinger, theater director J. Kasjanov; “Twelfth Night” by Shakespeare , Theater director A. Bakirov). Since 1996 the theater has been known as the “Molodigny” (youth) theater, and the puppet troupe has become a separate theater for children. In this new statue, “Youth Theater” produced a number of important theatrical productions. “The Cherry Orchard,” by Prof. Chekhov, “Inspector General” by Gogol, “The Stolen Happiness” by E. Franco, “Hamlet” by W. Shakespeare, “The House of Dolls” by H. Ibsen. The theater has stirred quite a few talented actors such as Ukraine's Honored Artists El Veselova and F. Bangok, masters of the scene c. Matrosova, T. Saldetska, M. Vetrihovsky, F. Makar, the young talented R Pokrovsky, O. Schukin, E. Sidorenko, R. Ostapko, I. Atroschenko, E. Shirokorad et al.
