![]() Badakh Contemporary Arts Center
The Contemporary Arts Center was founded in 1994 by Vladislav Troitsky. It is the only private, non-commercial theater in Ukraine. What does it mean to be a non-commercial theater in Ukraine? Is it independence from state control in technical policy or independence from financial or analytical support? These questions need clarification in many aspects related to both theater management and artistic activity. Perhaps this is the condition of the model of theatrical performance, its aesthetics and methods of creative work. During ten years of the activity of "DAKH" (using the methods of investigations and errors) a strong direction was formed for the development of the stage and the artistic style of its director - Vladislav Troitsky. This is, in a way, an aesthetic message for the new generation of theater. It is the experience of the so-called "dynamic synthesis" of methods of representation, direction and stylistic forms of stage perception. One of the main areas assisting in such an investigation is a space for Ukrainian musical traditions, in an effort to give them new life with new theatrical forms. The actual strategy of the "Dach" Center lies in active cooperation with a wide range of governmental and commercial institutions with the aim of changing the cultural situation in Ukraine towards more open forms of artistic activity and organization, towards creative dialogue and support for an experimental field of theater that prepares new semi-functional theater buildings, and initiates innovative forms of teaching Theater and the creation of an editing center for theatrical literature.
