Ceremonial opening of the memorial complex The National Museum of the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945 was held on the hills of Dnipro on May 9, 1981. The creative concept and draft design of the famous sculptor Y. Vuchetych and Architect Y. Stamo laid the foundation for the construction of the museum. The monument occupies an area of 10 hectares and includes the museum with the monument to the motherland, the main square of the Valley of Hero Cities, the sculptural installations called Fording the Dnipro and Transfer of Weapons, heroes of the front and back with high bronze engravings, musical compositions, the Goblet of Fire of Glory, an exhibition of combat vehicles and weapons, Plus a separate building with exhibits of war effects called The Tragedy and Bravery of Afghanistan and Wars on Foreign Soils. Visitors can explore the Li-2, the-24 helicopter, and the G-23 fighter jet. The main gallery block is a three-story building that is simultaneously the pedestal for the Motherland Monument.
