The first race of the Ukrainian biathlon members of the World Cup was held on December 17, 1992 in Poclوكاka, Slovenia. The first event in the first stage of that year was the men's individual 20 km race. Our country represented Valentin Dzima, Taras Dolny, Vitaly Mohilenko and Ivan Maximov, whose places were 32, 51, 53 and 60 out of 100 participants. Rico Gross, Ludwig Gridler, and Halvard Hanfold also participated in this race. The Norwegian athlete ranked 93 with only 8 missed goals! The women started their 15 km race three hours later. The first race and the first success! Elena Petrova was 11th with 0 lost shots. Her teammates behaved a little worse. Elena Ogurtsova (later known as the great Elena Zobrilova) was in 27th, Marina Skolota at 29th and Nadija Belova at 36. It is necessary to note that only 58 women were on the right track due to the low popularity of biathlon for women in those years. Among the participants are Martina Halinarova, Natalie Center Bjorndalen and John Margate Andreasen. Elena Petrova's eleventh place was our team's greatest success in the first stage. Due to lack of funds, Ukraine missed several World Cup events. Our team took advantage of this break. The first season brought the first catwalk. Nadija BELOVA showed strong skiing performance and despite both goals weak she took second place in the sprint race in Antholz. She became our team leader. Olga Friedrin and Irina Mirkushina joined the team after the break. Belova took fourth place in the Kontiolahti race (8 seconds on the podium!) And Mirkushina took 10th place. Our men's team has never been as successful as the women's team. Only 3 times they were in the top 30. In Östersund, Valentin DZIMA was in 17th in the sprint and Kontiolahti finished 18th place singles. Taras Dolniy also ranked 21 in Kontiolahti. Phone: +380442532382 25 Luteranskaya Street,
