The Foundation Center for Contemporary Art
![]() The Foundation Center for Contemporary Art
In 2008, the Soros Center for Contemporary Art in Kiev officially closed its doors. But shortly after this closure, the Center's infrastructure was reworked and reopened as a Foundation Center for Contemporary Art - an organization with a similar mission to support emerging, non-commercial contemporary art practices. The CCA Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that acts as a vital link between contemporary visual arts and actual social processes. The CCA Foundation believes its mission is to activate and support the social role of contemporary art as well as to stimulate an ongoing dynamic dialogue between art and society. The CCA Foundation stimulates the development of non-commercial artistic practices with a special focus on education and audience development for those who wish to discuss and learn more about various aspects of contemporary art. The CCA Foundation constitutes an educational platform for professionals and hobbyists of contemporary art that allows to fill critical gaps and blind spots in terms of theory and practice. By creating research programs and making available our comprehensive archive of Ukrainian art from 1990-2000, Foundation CCA seeks to enrich new forms and possibilities of contemporary art across a wide range. The CCA Foundation also acts as an international speaker and platform for meetings of Ukrainian and foreign artists and researchers. In addition, the CCA Foundation holds regular lectures and open discussions, initiates exhibitions and research projects, creates educational programs, and hosts international art residences. Our mission at Foundation CCA is to work with and for young artists, curators, critics, journalists, and researchers as well as broader circles of artists, social activists, intellectuals and the general public.
