The project is based on the five-year activity plan for the population and development component of the United Nations Population Fund for Ukraine country program for the period 2006-2010. This plan, which was approved by the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine in its capacity as Program Component Manager, resulted from the Population and Development Needs Assessment conducted in 2005-2006 with the support of the United Nations Population Fund. The annual work plan for 2009 complements the study of the demographics of poverty that began in 2008. The final component of the study that develops a methodology for presenting demographic patterns and poverty maps over time between censuses will be completed. The analytical report of the study will be completed, translated into English and printed. The report will provide recommendations on how to incorporate population linkages and poverty in national development programs. The results of the study will be presented to the press and decision-makers in the government and parliament. The project also supports research on the transition of the family institution in Ukraine, changes in family characteristics, patterns, values and functions, as well as fertility, marginalization of families, and social support for families - viewing the family as the core component of population reproduction. The research will continue to provide recommendations on improving the state's family policy. As always, the study findings and detailed recommendations will be made public and made available to government decision-makers and key stakeholders in the population and development field. The project also plans to assess progress made in implementing the ICPD Program of Action in Ukraine over the 15 years since the Program of Action was adopted. The results of the evaluation will be widely disseminated. Phone: +380443328116 Kyivska Oblast
