Lesya Ukrainka Public Library is the collection of books of the Central Library, the Scientific Methodological Center of the City Public Libraries, and the basic library of the Central Administration Board for Culture and Arts of the Kiev City State Administration on issues of raising the library Since 1992, the library has been extensively applying new computer technologies, which enable users to have free access to global information sources. Together with the Central Administration Board for Culture and Arts, the Library is actively implementing the "Information Automation Program - Library System for Kiev Public Libraries". In the collections of the library one can find publications on Ukrainian, Russian and foreign languages, rare and memorandum editions, music and graphics, as well as on electronic data carriers. The library subscribes 550 newspaper and periodical names annually. In the collection of the Department of Traditional Local Studies, literature and bibliographies of publications about Kiev at the end of the nineteenth century - the beginning of the twentieth century are stored, the entire collections of newspapers “Thought of Kiev” (“Kyivskaya mysl”) (1908-1909), and “Kiev Rumors” ( “Kyivskaya molva” (1907), “Kyiv newspaper” (“Kyivskaya gazeta”) (1903), magazine (“Kyivskaya starina”) “Kyiv old times” (1888-1898) and others. It is fully represented foreign Ukrainian, was transferred to the library by the Ukrainian diaspora. The personal collections of Serge Lyfar and Victor Kytastiy have a unique value. Library patrons can use the full-text databases “Zakon” (“Law”) and “Stolitsa” (“Capital”) and Internet Center information sources.
