More than 400 people work for Joint Stock Plant Potencial Company. They produce electric drills and electric drilling units not only for making oil and gas drilling but also for carrying out works in the coal mining industry, building docks, underground passages, and in the case of metros and other civil and industrial projects. The products included in the company are submersible electric motors for centrifugal pumps intended for pumping oil and water, and mobile sources of seismic vibrations used in geophysics and exploration. The plant performs a very large volume of work repairing and producing oil and gas stop valves. Relit face seals are now used in many branches of the industry. The factory has a unique base in testing asynchronous submersible electric motors and electrical insulation materials. The plant's engineering and design departments allow to design and produce goods according to the requirements of individual customers. The Potencial Plant was created in 1972 on the basis of the Kharkov Electromechanical Plant (KhEMZ). The main task of the newly formed company was to organize the production of electric drilling equipment for drilling oil and gas wells in the regions of Western Siberia, the Volga River and Turkmenistan. Since 1979, the plant has been carrying out its functions as a trial and trial industry to produce new equipment designed by VNPO Potencial Submersible Electrical Equipment Special Planning and Design Bureau. The serial production of submersible electric motors for rotary pump motors for oil production and seals for hydraulic protection has been manufactured since this period. In 1980 the plant began producing non-explosive seismic sources for geological exploration purposes. The plant now exports more than 70% of its production to the CIS countries.
