Graphite and carbonaceous materials deserve to be called the bread of the industry. Its production and consumption in industrially developed countries is comparable to that of all minerals combined (in terms of volume rather than weight, given their low density compared to most minerals).

At present, NSC KIPT has 15 specified type furnaces. They are designed in NSC KIPT first and foremost to realize gas phase technologies for receiving carbonic and carbon materials but maximum universal and allow to solve the following problems:
- Conducting the final gradient phase impregnation with pyrocarbon of porous powder and fiber fillers; To receive products from carbon, carbon and graphite materials on the pyrocarbon bond using this method;
- Conducting isothermal gas phase impregnation of porous materials and products;
Drawing and polishing graphite and carbonate materials at temperatures up to 2500-3000 ° C under radial temperature gradient conditions or isothermal conditions.

The base unit of the fixtures is a cylindrical vacuum water cooling chamber with copper water cooling connectors placed on the same axis, located at the top and bottom. Mobile conductors are implemented to compensate for the thermal expansion of products during operation. In addition, the mobility of the connector facilitates the preparatory fastening in the fitting.
Each installation contains an independent power supply system for heating products that contain voltage regulators and transducers of different capacities. The furnaces are equipped with a vacuum system (0.1-0.001 tor), a natural gas supply system.

When impregnating the products with gas phase, the furnaces operate at methane or low pressure, which can be set from 5-10 Torr to atmosphere.
There are systems of noble gases, hydrogen, etc. There is also an automatic control system for technological processes. The specified system includes the maintenance of the programmed spin of furnaces and the temperature of the products, the automatic maintenance of the given temperature during the gas impregnation process with the required accuracy (in our operations usually with a precision of 20-50 ??), the cooling control of the water temperature, and an alarm system when the systems and systems deviate. Temperature control is expected by thermocouple and optical - by pyrometer in all ovens.
